Select a favorite mobile app that you think could be enhanced or transformed into a valuable experience on the Apple Watch. Design an Apple Watch app that maintains the core functionality and essence of the mobile app while thoughtfully leveraging the watch's unique features and limitations.

What I learned
Wearable tech requires designers to understand the soul of a product.
Your design must allow users to experience the same thrills & reap the same benefits of its more robust mobile counterpart.
The usability of wearable apps is even more important given the smaller landscape and touchpoints.
What is Fi?
Fi is like Airtags but works even without iPhone around.
The Problem?
When walking my dogs, my phone is NOT always available to me (can I get an “amen” from the multiple-dog owners!). If I do manage to get to my phone, there is also the risk of my dog(s) yanking the leash & causing me to drop my phone 😬.
The Solution?
Utilize the #1 piece of wearable tech! Allow me to see where my dog is, start a walk, and view/share my progress straight from my watch! Thus keeping my phone safe, and my hands available for treats and toys! 😎
My Thoughts
Empathize & Define
I started by thinking “How might I wish to interact with my Apple Watch in order to accomplish the same tasks I enjoy on my iPhone?”
and down the rabbit 🐇 hole I went, asking questions like:
What information is a MUST have, given the limited screen size?
How much scrolling is too much scrolling?
What NEEDS to happen to accomplish my goal of “going on a walk”?
What makes Fi…Fi? And how can I make sure to translate that same feeling to the watch?
Task Flow
Ideate
With limited time, I consolidated all my answers into a concise task flow that kept the “meat & potatoes” of Fi (Location tracking, Metrics, Rankings, and Sharing) that I felt I could easily manage while walking my 60lb Doberman & 20lb Cockapoo.
Home Screen
Design & Prototype
The home screen acts as our mobile “hub” by displaying the most pertinent information regarding our pets giving us peace of mind regardless of where we are, or where they are.

Walk Screens
The first screen shows you where you are currently located & allows us to begin our walk or view our current rank (just in case we need a little encouragement 😉). The second page shows us our current walk status and location.
Features
View Rank or Start Walk (Retrospective: Walk button should change to “Start” with a green color)
Shows Current Walk Metrics (Stay up to date on your goals! 💪)
Pause or End (Pause for some water, or are we there yet?) 🤣
Share Screen
Finished your walk? One of the coolest features of Fi is the ability to share your walks via Social Media! Quickly and easily share your progress across all (or some) of your networks to let everyone know your furry friend is putting in the work!
